SMU Online: the questions people actually ask
Totals run from ₹75,000 for the Bachelor of Arts (BA) to ₹1,20,000 for the Master of Business Administration (MBA), covering the complete programme rather than a single year. Each course page carries the semester-wise split.
Compare them on four things only: total published fee, approval status, whether your specialisation exists, and the support you actually get during the programme. Our side-by-side page puts SMU Online and Amity Online, Online Manipal, VGU in one table so the difference is visible instead of implied.
Online learners at SMU Online get career-services access rather than a campus placement guarantee — resume support, job boards and recruiter drives where the university runs them. Treat any package figure as a description of the whole learner base, not a promise attached to your enrolment.
Fee concessions are handled per intake rather than as a standing scheme. Category concessions for defence personnel, divyangjan learners, women and merit applicants are common in Indian online programmes — confirm the current scheme with SMU Online before applying.
. Keep ready as scans before you begin, because the application usually times out if documents are collected mid-form.

Placement & career
SMU Online publishes placement assistance, which is career support such as guidance and opportunity sharing. It is not a placement guarantee, and no employment outcome is assured.
SMU Online does not publish university-wide placement numbers. Programme pages carry the career detail that is published, and you can ask the university directly for its current recruiter list.
Indicative recruiter list published for the university's online and campus programmes. Placement support does not guarantee a job offer.

Who it suits
May suit
- Working professionals who need to study alongside a job
- Learners who want a flexible, non-classroom schedule
- Graduates looking for a PG programme
- Students looking for a UG degree without relocating
- Learners who want a specialised programme
May not suit
- Students who specifically want daily on-campus life
- Learners who prefer classroom-based teaching
- Applicants who need a programme this university does not offer online
Is SMU Online worth the fee for you?
Choose it if
- Your budget starts around ₹75K for the full programme — that is the lowest published total across SMU Online programmes on this page.
- You want a structured online-learning platform with recorded lectures and admission support handled end to end.
- You need a fully online mode — SMU Online runs its programmes online, not as postal distance study.
- You need an AICTE-recognised technical programme — that approval is on record for SMU Online.
- You may study or work abroad later — SMU Online degrees appear in WES evaluation records.
- You want to finish UG and continue PG at the same university without re-applying elsewhere.
Look elsewhere if
- Your maximum budget is below ₹75K — a state open university will cost far less for the same degree title.
- You want a niche specialisation — only 3 are published here; check the course pages first.
- Placement assistance is a deciding factor for you — no placement support is published in the SMU Online record.
What to verify before applying
Before submitting an application, verify the exact programme name, awarding university, current academic session, eligibility, total fee and fee components, admission deadline, examination method, scholarship conditions and the official admission portal. These details can change by programme and admission cycle.
